How do I get a Qualtrics account?
If you are handling moderately sensitive data, go to the Qualtrics login page and click on the appropriate portal based on your school association.
  • If you have not previously established an account, you may receive a pop-up in the process. Please click on “I don’t have a Qualtrics account”.
If you are handling highly sensitive data, faculty and staff can create their own account. Please go to the Qualtrics login page and click on the UVA Qualtrics Highly-Sensitive Data login.
  • If you have not previously established an account, you may receive a pop-up in the process. Please click on "I don't have a Qualtrics account". This account is totally independent of any other account for storing moderately sensitive data. Thus, selecting this option is correct for these purposes.
What's my Qualtrics Research Suite password?
It depends on what portal you have an account in. For the Central UVA Qualtrics login and the UVA Qualtrics Highly-Sensitive Data login, your password for UVA Qualtrics is the password you use to log in through NetBadge.

How was this software purchased?
Through a partnership between ITS and the following schools/departments, the University was able to initiate a 3-year pilot project starting June 25, 2016 to test the business case for Qualtrics:

What limits are in place for faculty, staff, and students?
Students will only have a limited numbers of responses available to them, a limited number of surveys active, and a limited number of surveys created. They will also be prevented from collaborating surveys to individuals outside of the organization. This is to prevent malicious spamming of users and unauthorized access to data. In the event that users need to exceed the limits established, please email qualtrics@virginia.edu with your request.
Students will also need to be sponsored by a Principal Investigator (PI) to obtain access to the Qualtrics Highly-Sensitive Data. Please email qualtrics@virginia.edu with your request.
I'm a member of the McIntire School of Commerce. Why do I not log in where everyone else does?
You log into a different portal because your portal utilizes your McIntire School of Commerce credentials (as opposed to NetBadge authentication). Qualtrics cannot support more than one source of authentication. Thus, users of McIntire will remain in a separate portal to allow continued use of McIntire credentials.
How do I set up a NetBadge authenticated survey?
With Qualtrics, you can utilize NetBadge, the University's central method of authenticating, to ensure your respondents for a survey are who they say they are. Data about the user who logs in through NetBadge will be captured through the Embedded Data function of Qualtrics.
Warning: This should not be used in scenarios where you are asking users to complete the survey anonymously.
To utilize the NetBadge authenticator functionality, please follow the steps outlined here: To capture respondent identifying information, please select "SSO" for the Authentication Type and select "Shibboleth" for the SSO Type then use the following settings:
